The sun finally hit yesterday! Despite the fact that they day started out at about 35 degrees, it was 60 and beautiful by the time I got home from work. I actually got warm taking these photos outside my apartment, how strange is that? Unfortunately it's back to being cloudy today, but these little hints give me faith that Sprig will actually come one of these days. I always want to wear this pretty floral blouse come Springtime, and I couldn't help throwing on my matching Jeffrey Campbell wedges with little scallops.

An outfit that I wore to work the other day. I love my new-ish rings from H&M and this top has always been one of my favorites because of it's big loose shape, it's so cozy! The cargos are a nice alternative to jeans, especially in the slate gray color. Yay for better photos thanks to my new remote! Woohoo!

Annnnnd back to style posts, weee! These photos look a bit strange since my exposure was way too bright, but c'est la vie. Luckily I bought a new wireless remote today which will make everything much easier and the photos better. This dress is super comfortable and I love the big stripes. I wore this to work but then put on my bowler hat when I got home because it just makes every outfit feel cooler. I am just itching for the warmer weather to come but Portland is being stubborn and rainy, which is typical. I even bought a couple swimsuits at H&M the other day and now I am just dreaming about it being summer so I can wear them. 

Tomorrow is Friday which means breakfast out at work! If you are curious, I write for the lifestyle section over at Digital Trends, a big tech website based here in Portland. Most of what I write about aims a bit more at guys than gals, but some of it is pretty cool or sometimes fashion-related, so check out the lifestyle section if you feel so inclined. Anyway, my bosses are nice people and take us out to breakfast every other Friday! It's the little things that make for such a nice work environment. :)

It's been a while...

I have been a bad blogger this winter. There is nothing I love more than having this little visual journal going and seeing the creativity of all my favorite bloggers who I follow, so I am determined to keep it alive. However, as my friend and I were saying, the California blogger girls (who I adore) have an unfair advantage. It's called sun. Style blogging through the dreary months of Portland's rainy Winter (and often Spring) is not an easy task, but as Spring is poking its head through the clouds these days, thoughts of photography and style blogs are running through my head. For my first post back in months I thought I would just give you all a little photo update of what I've been up to. I'll get back to style soon. 

 Enjoyed a fall of pumpkins and candy apples. 

Caught a beautiful moment of wind blowing the leaves off of this tree.

 Went beer tasting in Portland. Favorite pick: Rogue's Hazelnut Brown Nectar. Yum. 

Ran around the lit-up zoo in the freezing rain.

Went skiing for the first time since I was 13. 

Saw a triple rainbow at Crown Point. Can you see it???

Played with long exposures. 

Reveled in Oregon's beauty even in the cold. 

Tried a photography art project with milk, dishsoap, and food coloring. 

Went to Las Vegas for work to cover the craziness that is CES (the consumer electronics show). 

Went to the Polaroid announcement at CES and took this photo of Lady Gaga. 

Made a minty green cowl. 

Made a new kitty friend named Eva. 

Got a job, moved to a new neighborhood, left the nest, joined a gym, got my own health insurance. Pretty much made my way to a semi-adult stage of life. Gotta grow up sometime, right?

I'm a little bit in love with this song (All Day Day Light) and new video from The Morning Benders. Aren't they wonderful? I'm hoping to see them when they roll around to Portland in October. But the video is just so great.

Fall Inspiration: Classic Colors

Fall is on the way, and nothing gives me more dressing inspiration than that first day of cool, crisp weather. In the fall shows, there was lots and lots of camel, and I'm liking where that color trend is taking us. It harkens back to the early 1970s, but the addition of army greens and denim to the mix make this color more suitable to the modern palette. I loved bits and pieces of the Chloe show, and Marc by Marc Jacobs, Dries Van Noten, and Burberry all put great twists on the neutral trend. It's so great to see all of that popping up in stores like H&M for fall. I walked into one the other day and I was obsessed with the color palette the store had of camel, army green, khaki, rust, and blush. Yay fall! I love the laid-back-cool of the H&M pieces as well. And those shearling jackets by Burberry? I WANT. So classic and cool. 

Arcade Fire Obsessed

I was going to write a post about this a few weeks ago when I first got the record, but clearly I got sidetracked, so here it is now. All you really need to know is that the new Arcade Fire album is ridiculously good and you must go buy it right now if you don't have it already. 

The Suburbs launches Arcade Fire into true Rock-Star-dom and the album is appropriately epic, with a cohesive theme and not a throwaway track in sight. I almost always want to listen to The Suburbs in the correct order, in its entirety. That says a lot for someone who constantly has her iTunes playlists on shuffle. While my favorites are ever-changing, right now my top picks are "Ready To Start," "Rococo," "We Used To Wait," and "Half Light II (No Celebration." See below for musical genius. :)

New York City, Part 1

I have been a bit m.i.a. the past couple weeks because I have been on vacation, woo hoo! I am visiting my older sister in Washington, D.C. and managed to make it up to New York for a few days to visit Barrett, one of my best friends from high school, who recently moved to Brooklyn. It was my first trip to New York and even though I was only there a few days, it was so much fun! I wish I could have stayed longer. I think I visited almost all the neighborhoods in manhattan! Here is documentation part one...
